教育が目的とする「リーダーシップ」を想定する上で文化間では差異が生ずることを示した。特に日本で自明とされている「他者をけん引する能力」としての「リーダーシップ」に対して，「自分自身をけん引する能力」としての「リーダーシップ」に着目することを通して，教育が育成する「理想の人間像」再構築する必要性とその意義とを論じた。
