This study examined how active listening instruction and reflection contributed to the development of EFL learners’ interactional awareness in speaking activities. Analysis of learners’ reflections indicated a shift from attention to individual speaking and listening behaviors toward greater awareness of interaction management and communication strategies. The findings suggest that explicit instruction and reflection can promote learners’ awareness of how they participate in and support spoken interaction.
